Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Blinkster application will use geolocalisation information to establish a context for the search operations. This information will be used for a given search, but not kept in a Blinkster database as the purpose of the application is not to track people. Users of the system will have the opportunity to consent to give the application access to the localisation information from their mobile phone at application start-up and will be informed of why it is needed by the system.

Blinkster will require that users create logins into the system so they can get a single view on their information whether they‟re connected with a mobile device or a web browser on a personal computer. These logins are just aliases in the system but won‟t require personal identification. Even though personal information won‟t be used, the Chordal Team will store the login information in a database with reasonable protection means to keep data secure and private (database and table level security, secure encrypted login page, documented administration procedures).

Blinkster will not keep pictures taken by users doing a simple search. These images will be analyzed to generated mathematical descriptors and then immediately discarded. Pictures sent by users as contributions will be kept by the system to be further displayed as search results. When pictures are kept, consent (containing property rules for images) from users will have to be electronically signed.

Blinkster will require that users verify their pictures conform to privacy and intellectual property rules of the site they‟re shooting. It will also require that the pictures are released under an “Attribution” Creative Common licence. The type of license and the text of the license will be shown for consent to users before they can contribute to Blinkster. Users will also have to accept that their pictures or comments might be removed from the system at any time by the Blinkster team members.

Blinkster will give the opportunity to anyone to signal that a picture stored or displayed by the system may fail to comply with privacy, copyright or intellectual property rules. A web page on the Blinkster public web site will be created to facilitate these feedbacks. In such circumstances, the Blinkster team will remove the picture from the system if it has any doubt.

The Blinkster system will incorporate voice or text contributions from users. The project team will moderate those contributions and will remove any contribution not directly related to discussion around artwork. All contributions that may be illegal or offending in one of the participant countries will be directly removed from the system. This includes for example profanities, threats, prejudiced comments, hate speech, sexual language or explicit descriptions, or other non-family-friendly content. Commercial messages will also be removed from the system.
